F1 News: Iran to Build F1 Track!

Iran could be the next Middle East country to join the Formula 1 circuit after announcing plans to build a track in Parand City, 35km south of Tehran. Alireza Sabbagh, executive manager of the project, said: "Iran has so many young people and there is an increasing tendency for them to drive. F1 has a great future there."

Iran is the country which faces protests each day, after the 2009 Presidential Election and the continuing Police Brutality. Although I am pleased that Iran (the country where my family originates) could host a grand prix in the very future, I am disappointed it isn't being planned at a time when a corrupt regime to that of the Islamic Republic is ousted.
